In the LB TAB Layers dashboard, turning on the thumbnail setting switches to the library view: every saved tab becomes a card with a thumbnail of the page. Thumbnails are captured automatically, up to 1,442 are kept, and you can retake an outdated one with Refresh thumbnail in the right-click menu.
“I don’t remember the title of that page, but it had a blue chart on it…” We often remember pages by how they look, not by their names. Chrome’s bookmarks only show a favicon and a title, so that visual memory is of no help. The library view fixes that.

How to use it
- Turn thumbnails on in the side panel settings.
- Browse as usual. Thumbnails are captured when you view a tab or save it to a group — nothing else to do.
- Open the dashboard with DB in the mode bar and choose a group. Its tabs appear as cards with thumbnails.
- Retake old thumbnails. If a site has changed, or a half-loaded white page was captured, right-click the saved tab and choose Refresh thumbnail.
How Refresh thumbnail works
Chrome only lets extensions capture the tab that is currently on screen. So Refresh thumbnail brings the tab with that page to the front for a moment, captures it and switches straight back. It can’t retake the thumbnail — and tells you so — when thumbnails are turned off, on pages such as chrome:// where capturing isn’t allowed, or when the capture itself fails.
Where are thumbnails stored?
Only on your computer, in the extension’s local storage inside Chrome. They are not added to your bookmarks or to the Google Sheets export.
